Closing 2010 with a Bang!

Finally, I got to open my Blogger account! It's been a while and I can feel my account wanting to kick me already for my neglecting it these past months! It's not that there isn't anything in my life worth blogging about. In fact, so many things have been happening that I seem to have lost count! And, I keep promising myself to blog about this and that, but I just never really got down to doing anything of the sort because so much of my time is eaten by Facebook and Twitter nowadays. It's a shame, really. But, that's the truth!

I mean, come on, Facebook has become the new Google! You want to know where to buy the cheapest stuff or even very specific and hard-to-come-by products, you want to know how to get to a certain place the fastest way you can, you have an assignment in any subject, just post your question or problem on your status box and the answers will start pouring in. You need not hop from one website to another since everything, and I mean everything, is reposted on Facebook or, at least, a link is. And, Twitter? Well, it's a whole other universe, that Twitter-verse! Blog-hopping has, in a way, become old-fashioned and even unnecessary as you will know the thoughts and opinions of people you like or maybe even those you don't like, their take on things, events and issues, you will know what everyone is up to, you will know of happenings and updates on events and people sometimes even before they reach the News desks. So, I'm not exactly surprised that so many of the people I know who used to religiously update their blogs, myself included, have shown their blogs wanting some dusting off.

Anyway, what have I been up to these past months? Well, there was my sister's wedding in November. My little sister, yes, got married on November 27, 2010. I have been wanting to write about it, but my emotions prevent me from doing so. I am just so emotional when it comes to my sister. She's a grown up herself, but I still see her as the little thin-haired baby she used to be. Seeing her get married, I had mixed emotions. I was very happy and excited for her, but there was also sadness in my heart as the selfish part of me felt that I was, in a way, losing my baby sister. The thought of having to share her with this guy and with her spending more time with him than with me (us) was not very welcome. My sister is my best friend, you see. We tell each other everything. The thought that that may change was not very easy to accept. But, knowing that she's happy and would be happier outweighed all negative and selfish thoughts I had. And, when the big day finally came, I was more excited about it than she was! Hehe:)

At the wedding, I wrote a short poem which I read there. Here it is (as copied straight from my cellphone):

Union of Lights

She was, to me, a little angel
Born at the most perfect time.
My light, I've always referred to her
For, indeed, she put brightness in my life.
I was, to her, always like a Mother Hen--
Protective, supportive, and sensitive.

Today, she embarks on a journey.
I am saddened, yet happy.
To entrust her to this man.
This man, who, I know will protect her,
Take care of her like I always have.
Nay, more than I ever have!

As I watch them, I smile at the thought.
My light joining another's.
They shine bright.
Their lights, brighter than ever!
Looking at that, I breathe and smile.
I am at peace.

Another happening that I want to blog about is our trip to Misamis Occidental. My two friends (Ashy and Hany) and I pushed through with our plan to go for an out-of-town rest and recreation (R&R) trip despite the fact that five of our other friends who planned with us decided not to push through with the trip. The three of us went ahead with our trip and we had so much fun! It was all worth it! We allowed the adventurous parts of ourselves to take over as we braved the place none of us was exactly familiar with. I'd say that made our trip even more unforgettable and fun!

During the trip, we were able to explore Ozamiz City, go to the famous Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP) located just at the boundary of the municipalities of Tudela and Sinacaban and stroll around their mini zoo, and snorkel in the open sea, play and swim with the dolphins over at the Dolphin Island Resort. We really enjoyed! Although our trip was short, we had so much fun! As for me, having played and swum with the dolphins is something that I will never forget.

I have always loved dolphins! In fact I have a collection of dolphin figurines and stuff with dolphins on them. My love for such beautiful creatures increased during and after my SSEAYP experience. And, playing and swimming with them really made me fall in love with them all over again! They are so cute and sweet. I have seen dolphins a few times before, but it was my first time to actually get to really play and swim with them. We helped the staff feed them, too, as we were the first batch of swimmers. I couldn't believe it was happening! It felt like a dream.

And, snorkeling! I have experienced snorkeling in Boracay, but I enjoyed it more in MOAP. The fish, the corals and the other sea creatures we saw were just marvelous, totally magical! I kept thanking God for creating such a beautiful world! All I could say was "Masha-Allah!" over and over again! And, that experience just made diving move several notches higher in my Bucket List! I'd love to make this a yearly thing- take a trip like this one, do snorkeling, and swim with the dolphins every year! Hay, how I love the ocean world!
