Happy Week!
The past week was wonderful... and busy.
At work...
I had to work from 8 o'clock in the morning up to 6 o'clock in the evening for the past two weeks. I love and enjoy teaching, but teaching every single hour of the day (from 9am-6pm) with just 5 minutes interval per session can be tough. Especially when you're working with a group of students with different levels of proficiency in English. Add the fact that you're doing this online (through the Net). Sometimes, there are sessions where some of the students are almost as good as native speakers already, some intermediate, some just beginning and some can barely speak English. You have to always be up your toes and make sure nobody feels left out or nobody manipulates and/or dominates the whole session. You have to make sure nobody gets bored or loses interest. You have to make sure that each of the students understands everything. And, you also have to make sure not to rub them the wrong way and always keep in mind that you're dealing with people with a different culture, so you can't throw jokes just like that. You always have to be on guard about what you say. Hay! But, it's all good, really. :) Pretty challenging at times, but good - really good. :)
Soccer is it!
The week was made considerably better and nicer when, at mid-week, Liverpool became European Champions when they won in the UEFA Champions League Finals against AC Milan. I love both teams, but I was rooting for Liverpool. While watching the game (from 2:45 to 5:00 a.m. on the 26th), I cried, laughed, cried and laughed again. At the end of the game, just like every hooligan in the stadium, I was in tears. There were only two of us, in a room full of screaming soccer fans, rooting for Liverpool. I was quietly singing "You will never walk aloooone..." along with the hooligans! Our Turkish dorm-mate said, "You will walk alone! Hahaha!" I so wanted to yell back, "And, you will never walk, dammit!" But, I kept quiet. And, as soon as Dudek blocked Shevchenko's kick, I clapped my hands and loudly said, "Who's gonna walk alone now? Hahaha!" It was a great game. And, I looove soccer more. :)
Fun Nights...
The week was capped by nights-out with very good friends. Friday night, I watched "Star Wars Episode 3" for the second time. I was with Bok,
I am exhausted, but really happy and relaxed. I feel very peaceful right now. Life is good. God is great! :)
Dean, happy birthday! You will forever be... sikat! Mwah! I love you, bro! :)

toni, yup, yup! sa uulitin.:)
kuya sam, i call the beautiful game soccer because, growing up, it was what we called it back home. and, if you really look for the word's etymology, soccer came from britain din. british slang for asSOCiation football as opposed to rugby football, which they used to call "rugger" back then.:)
can't wait nga to watch pisodes 4-6 again eh...kasi i've forgotten everything about it na ata :D
though Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor, and those yummy soccer/football athletes looks good i guess im stuck with harrison Ford and Pele (brazilian soccer player.
which means im old hahaha
good to know you had a good weekend!
ayeza, i'm not much of a star wars fan either. but, soccer fan is what i am. and, not just for the yummy players, but for the beautiful game as it is.:)
Thanks for the input you posted on my comment in Sam's site. Yes, I think I will take my 5-year-old son to the summer soccer program.
Your name sounds familiar. Perhaps your parents know my Dad, Jalal/Joel de los Santos? He was very active in the Bangsamoro movement. In fact,I think he even composed the Bangsamoro anthem.
When my Mom gave birth to me, it was Nur Misuari and my uncle Abul Alonto who brought her to the hospital because my Dad was busy leading a demonstration in front of Malacanang protesting the Jabidah Massacre.
Anyway, I really like your template. I am also a fan of all things pink. In fact, my former Blogger avatar was called Baby Pink!
wow! cool! yes, i think i hear your dad's name from my parents and my aunts. tanong ko lang po, was he the same "uncle joel" who passed away recently (a year or two ago) o ibang "uncle joel" 'yun? pasensiya na, ha? oh, and abul alonto is also my uncle.:)
i love it, too. hehehe:)
Wow! You also know Toni and Dennis? It's really a small world. Take care. Don't work too much.
salamat po, doc.:)
My Dad passed away on October 18 1999, just 8 days after I left the Philippines for good. I would like to invite you and Auntie Minda to read a tribute which I wrote for him. You can view it by cutting and pasting this link:
http://87gentlestreet.pansitan.net/2004/03/remembering-daddy-today-was-supposed.html
As I pointed out to Sam, nagkamali ako sa isang detail: Lolo Pinong had a building named after him in Dansalan College, not MSU.
Auntie Minda might know me more as "Rima", Joel's eldest daughter. I used to do the evening news for RPN-9 under my married names, Renee Caplan or Renee Sereno (it's my second marriage now).
Anyway, please send her my warmest regards.
grabe!:)
