To each his own...

I've been a citizen of the blog world for more than one year and a half now. All this time, I've been reading and hopping from one blog to another. I have read many a different view about various events, issues and people. I have always enjoyed reading what other people actually think about certain things. I have learned a lot, too.

And, like every single blogger in the world, I also have ideas and opinions of my own. These ideas and opinions may differ from that of others, but I don't really think this makes them (my ideas and opinions) any less, in sense and value, than others'. This is also what I think whenever I read opinions and ideas that are so different from mine. I always tell myself, "to each his own."

This also holds true in the "real" world. There will always be people who will see or view things in a way far different from one's own. It is always good to keep "to each his own" in mind. But, then again, there are people who just don't understand this or who refuse to understand this. Some people would even go as far as think that only their own opinions or views of things are important and correct; others are stupid and not worth hearing! Hay naku!

I've never really been told straight to my face (or in my blog) that my idea or opinion is stupid, but I've seen this done to some people. This could actually cause a person to feel inferior and forever lose the confidence to express himself/herself. While I feel for these people, the kind who let others make them appear or sound stupid, I can't help but think that it's their own doing, too. Why allow it? It's not like it's a crime to actually have a different take on things, right? I wonder what I'd do if and when some smart, know-it-all person tries to make me look and feel stupid just because I have my own idea of things. I'd probably keep quiet, like some people I know. I'd probably try to argue my way out of "stupidity". Or I could actually break a nose bridge or two. Wahahaha! :)

I do debates in college, and it really fuzzes me when I get a rebuttal on the other side of the house. Somewhat also that's what I feel in making a blog article, but I am prepared to receive such slaps if there's someone who would slap on my article ;)

iba naman ang sa debate. kailangan naman kasing magkasalungat talaga ang views 'nyo kung magkaiba kayong teams, 'di ba?:)

I hate to lose in debates but I try to listen to what the other party has to say. However, there are some people who simply refuse to listen to your viewpoints and assert their own on me. SOme are worse, they know they are wrong but simply refuse to accept the fact just because they are afraid to lose face.

Believe me, I know what you are talking about. I've been blog hopping for quite sometime now, and some blogs really turn me off because of too much negativity in the contents (entries and the comment box). I am not a fan of those bloggers. Keep your heads up, keep writing! WELCOME TO PINOY TEACHERS NETWORK! Your blog is linked now to our Bulletin Board (http://pinoyteachersnetwork.blog-city.com)

First of all, welcome again to PTN (Pinoy Teachers Network). I am visiting your site, from your link posted on PTN. I love blog hopping, and reading a variety of thoughts. I also blog because I'm seeking your thoughts on my thoughts.

There is a funny article that someone wrote about weblogs. The writer even classified the different blogging personalities in Chapter 2. (http://www.xanga.com/item.aspx?user=NvyBlu789&tab=weblogs&uid=305984835)

Have a great weekend!

hi babypink,

to each his own... but funny that some people in the blogworld have this thinking that they are better, always better than the others. parang sila lang ang me tamang opinyon. for me, if you sense that these people are histrionic, that is, gusto lang ipakita sa mundo na mas magaling sila sa kahit kanino, mas magandang wag nang patulan. they will not listen din naman, and do not have the capacity to listen becuz they have that line of thinking that they are the best. after all, we do blog primarily to enhance our talents, write our hearts out, and gain friends.

i like the post. keep up the good work!

OFF TOPIC: thank you for all the support, BABYPINK! Hope we go far and wide...

When a person resorts to referring to ideas as "stupid", you've probably already won. :-) If he had any better arguments, he or she shouldn't have to resort to insulting your idea. :-)
BabyPink said…

Anyway, ang importante, this entry applies to life in general, not only to the blogosphere. Para sa akin, "respect one's opinion", and/or "avoid negative people". Yan nalang ang ginagawa ko para may peace of mind ako, tapos blog pa rin, tuloy ang ligaya...
BabyPink said…
naku, teacher sol, actually wala po akong pinatutungkulan or whatever sa aking entry. may kilala lang po akong magkaibigan na "nagtatalo"at 'yung isa, hindi talaga nakikinig at sinabi pang "that's just stupid!" patungkol sa sinabi ng kaibigan niya. 'yun po ang naka-"inspire" sa akin to write this. hehehe:)
