Flora and Fauna...

All my life, I have been an animal person. I've always loved animals. Freaky as it may sound, I can even touch the friendlier house mice/rats and give them some pats. I remember when I was in high school, at one of the very few times that we didn't have a cat at home, we had rats. They were weird because they were not scared of us. When we passed by them, they just continued doing their thing and minding their own business. My sister, I remember, would freak out and all. As for me, I tried befriending the rats. And, it came to a point when I could actually sit near a rat and run my fingers through its soft-furred body. The only thing I never liked about them were their tails, especially very long ones! Those very weird tails, weird in a negative/bad way! But, despite that, I could still play with rats. Now, I still can but I don't because I've found out how dirty they can get!

I've had cats, dogs, goats, fish, chickens, ducks, and geese for pets. I'd even, sometimes, feed ants by putting sugar in random places where I knew they would pass on their way home from work, I used to imagine. I just love animals - any kind of animal. Being around animals makes me feel peaceful and relaxed. :)

The animal person that I am, I never really liked plants. Neither did I hate them. I just never looked at them the way some people I know did. My Mommy Rosie, my dad's first wife and mother of my older siblings, loves plants and probably has the greenest of green thumbs in the world. She would tell me about caring for plants and all, but I just never got interested. As soon as I get to the garden, I'd immediately look for some insects to observe and forget about the plants. Mommy Rosie found that really funny and she'd always leave me to my world. Plants were something I never really noticed or paid attention to.

But, right now, I'm taking care of two plants. One is owned by a friend of mine who had to go home for the summer vacation. The other one was owned by my former roommate. I'd water them regularly and, sometimes, even try talking to them. I'm, so far, doing great with my friend's plant. As for my former roommate's, some of the leaves have withered. I've tried trimming and all. Wanting it to stay alive has become a sort of an obsession for me. I never thought I could ever be like this about a plant. It looks okay now and I hope it stays okay. I so want to consult Mommy Rosie right now, but I'd have to go back home to Mindanao to be able to do that. I just hope that the green speck in my thumb, however tiny it is, would be enough to make my new "pet" stay alive and "kicking."

Now, let me just find my dear Queen Catie and sweet Pretty Twona. I sure hope that's not jealousy I smell, my beloved (smuggled) cats! :)

Plants scare me, I always end up killing them somehow. Maybe a tree, I can handle.

Talk about animals, specifically mice. There was a mouse on my workplace's bath tub. Haha. He's too tiny and cute to die, but pests should die anyway. Animals make me feel mellow and kind for some peculiar reason.

Drug kadn a osto. Imanto pman na mga riya ow. =) I's actually laughing when I read this post because I remembered the first time I saw a rat the size of a cat. Only in the Philippines, baby. Haha. I've never encountered mice, rats, or what-have-yous [apparently, they can't survive the heat of the Jeddah sun] except for Mickey Mouse [that slightly bisexual mouse] so it was quite an experience.

By the way, I changed blog-homes na. My old website was only recently banned by Saudi-net, so I hope you can visit me at my new home [it's around your neighborhood], and maybe you can help me with the ropes, etc. I don't know how to link your page. Ahihihi. Miss yah!
