New friendship, old friend...

We used to be really close. We liked the same things, we ate together, we walked together, we went to class together. We had fun, you know, the kind of fun that you get from the simplest of things. Sometimes, we'd sit silent and we'd feel really contented and happy where we were. It was the kind of friendship that didn't require words or too much effort from both sides. It was the most natural thing.

Then, we had a major misunderstanding. A really big one. Actually, it started with something really silly, but it grew bigger and bigger by the day.

Neither of us admitted fault; neither of us said sorry. So, what started out as a really good friendship ended in hatred and anger. We couldn't stand each other. We literally wanted to kill each other. It was that bad.

Then, one night, I was doing my usual Internet surfing, I saw my ex-friend online. Although we hated each other like mad, no, we didn't delete each other from our Facebook friends' list. Without wasting any time and so that I won't have time to change my mind, I sent a private message. A reply came shortly.

So, now, here we are still chatting in the wee hours of the morning. I feel good about this. It feels like the months that passed that we hated each other and didn't talk didn't take place at all. It's almost surreal. Everything's getting back to the way they used to be.

Old friends, after all, are still the best ones to have. I thank God for this development. I thank God for this "new" friendship. :)

Good for you! That happened to me too, and it took us THREE years to get back together again, but then it wasn't the same closeness we used to have. But just the same, at least we don't fight anymore :).

Hindi mapublish yung comment ko sa blogspot, hehe. I love this entry Ma'am, nothing can really beat old friends. It's the beauty of how you can shrug off things even after a big fight simply because you matter to each other. :) ♥

This happened to me not too long ago--a silent war with someone I considered one of my closest friends way back undergrad. The fight wasn't directly between the two of us, but I got affected by that. Almost a year later, I couldn't stand the wall between us so I wrote her a letter. She replied via SMS but I didn't answer back. I was expecting it was the end of our friendship. Days later, she approached me and hugged me very, very tight. Who am I not to forgive diba? Although I cannot say that our friendship would return to how we were before, at least I can say we're "okay" now. :)

Alhamdulillah.

Some great friendship are tested through times. Our sense of maturity and understanding takes place. Yes, its true, nagkakaroon na ng lamat, things are not the same as they used to be but nevertheless it is an opportunity to start anew.

New friendship with estranged old friends are always great, really. They may not be the way things were at first, but "talking" again is a big step. It's a good thing that in this particular case, we're back to normal. Or maybe even better off than before if that was possible. Alhamdulillah. :)
